Hello, Hillsdale family!  I pray that all of you are doing well and staying healthy.  It’s hard for me to realize that it has been six months since our last in-person gatherings.  I miss you all very much and I pray that it won’t be much longer before we can begin to gather in-person again for worship.

Our Leadership Team will be meeting online on Monday, September 28 to discuss the possibility of re-opening for in-person worship.  Please pray for us as we strive to make the best decisions for our church in these unprecedented times.  I will give you an update next week.

This Sunday, in our Romans series, we will begin looking at the wonderful truths in the fifth chapter of Romans, which sets forth the blessings of justification by faith. I hope you will join us online at 10:45am for worship. I look forward to "seeing" you then.

Because He lives,
Pastor Jim

BELIEVE - Jesus is Continually Praying For You

Once we fully discover all who Jesus is it will transform our lives. When we continue to believe He is our Rescuer from our old life of sin, and the unfulfilled beauty of our value and purpose, we will receive the power to be all He created us to be. This is Good News because our new life with Him gives us His promise He will always be with us, going before us and behind us, and surrounding us, supplying us with all we will ever need.

This is the backdrop of this scripture the 17th chapter of John. Jesus was nearing the end of His journey on this earth as the perfect representation of God. His mission was almost fulfilled, sacrificing His life as God's Good News of salvation to the world. Now, Jesus lifted His voice in prayer to the Father...

"After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began...11 Holy Father, you have given me your name; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are."

It is a wonderful thing to ponder that Jesus has given us His Name. He has given us eternal life, the privilege as His child to enter into a growing, personal, intimate relationship with Him and the Father. Our identity with Him fills our lives with the protecting power of His name because we belong to Him and have been made one with Him.

Thank you, Lord,
for PRoTecTING us by the PoWEr of Your NAME
for we belong to you...
and are One IN You.

“I have revealed you to the ones you gave me from this world. They were always yours. You gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything I have is a gift from you, 8 for I have passed on to them the message you gave me. They accepted it and know that I came from you, and they believe you sent me..."

13 “Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. 14 I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. 15 I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. 16 They do not belong to this world any more than I do. 17 Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. 18 Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. 19 And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth."

We have been given the word of God which has been revealed to us as truth that will fill us with with joy as we are made holy through putting into practice all that He has promised and commanded us to do. There is power in keeping His word for there is the assurance that He will protect us from the evil one and his lies.

Thank you, Lord,
for PRoTecTING us by the Power of YouR WoRD;
we no longer belong to this World and the Father of lies;
for you have healed us through your Holy sacrifice
and sent us to speak your truth to this world
that others too will be healed by your word;
for we belong to you...
and are One IN You.

20 “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. 21 I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. 22 “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one.

23 I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. 24 Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!  25 “O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me. 26 I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.”

We are the called of God, those who believe the message and receive the truth of the word into our lives. Our protection is guaranteed by the power of God who has received us and made us one with Him in Christ. It is through our unity with Christ that has perfected our unity with each other, which is the power of God, to show to the world the gospel of Christ is true. This truth compels us to share the gospel to the world to join in the Kingdom work of God, that where He is we will also be.

Thank you, Lord,
for the UniTY we have in You and with other believers;
for all will come to believe YOU have come from God
and experience, first hand, your marvelous love
that has come to us from before the founding of the world;
for we belong to you...
and are One In You.
