Hello, Hillsdale Family!  I pray that you are doing well and staying physically and spiritually healthy.  We are still hoping to re-open for in-person services on Sunday, July 12th, but the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Sacramento County may force us to postpone the re-opening.

We are closely watching this upward trend in new infections and we will reach a final decision on re-opening by July 2nd.
We have set a tentative date of Sunday, July 12 to begin in-person worship services.

We are still Live Streaming our services via Zoom & YouTube LIVE.

Initially, church will be different than pre-COVID-19.  The “new normal” will include physical distancing (six feet or more), wearing face masks (at least for entering and exiting, and for singing), temperature checks before entering the building, and sanitizing your hands.  Sadly, no hugging or shaking hands.  Also, to maintain physical distancing, you may need to sit in a different place than you’re used to.  This initial re-opening will involve attending the worship service only (no in-person Sunday School).

The Deacons and I also decided to conduct our first online Lord’s Supper observance on July 5.  We decided that we would use the individual single use “Communion” cups that we recently purchased.  They contain a pre-sealed wafer and separate pre-filled juice cup.  To participate, pick up cups for you and your family at the church office beginning Monday, June 22 – call ahead to make sure someone is there. I will be out of the office next week, so call the office to make sure a volunteer is available to give you your cup.Or, if coming to the office is difficult for you, contact your deacon and arrange for him to deliver them to you.

I will be on vacation next week, June 29 to July 3.  Please reach out to your Deacon if you have any needs.

Prayer Let me encourage you to gather with us to pray on Wednesdays @ 6:30 pm. Join us as we ... Pray for a healing of relationships, families, churches, and racial, cultural, and political division.  Pray for a national healing from the coronavirus that is profound and visible.  Pray that God will heal us in such ways that only He could receive the glory, that even political, media, and healthcare leaders would recognize that it was the hand of God that healed our land.

Worship  Also, remember the weekly sermons are uploaded to our website on Mondays as audio sermons & video sermons Keep reaching out to one another by phone during this time.  Please let me know of any situations that I should know about.

Give With Gratitude

A life of generosity is the out pouring of our love and gratefulness to God that rests on His faithfulness to His promises, to fulfill His divine plan and purpose for our lives and His Kingdom Purpose.

You can become a contributor towards God's Kingdom Purpose by making contributions to the ongoing work of the church through your tithes and offerings.

1) by mail to Hillsdale Blvd Baptist Church 6201 Hillsdale Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95842.

2) you may make a drop-off visit during our regular business hours.

3) you may give through your personal banking account with a bill pay service.

4) for those who need further assistance we may make a personal visit to pick up your financial gift.

Volunteers Needed to Re-open for Worship

When we re-open for worship, we will need a team of volunteers to perform the monitoring process as members enter the building.  This team will take temperatures, distribute masks for folks who don’t have one, keep track of who is attending, ensure social distancing and assist with the hand sanitizers.  These volunteers will need to attend a training meeting a week before opening day and arrive early.  PLEASE let the office know if you can volunteer.

Re-opening for Worship– Will You Come? As Pastor Jim has mentioned, we are hoping to start worshipping together again on July 12th.  As part of our planning, we would like to know how many members hope to attend our first service back. Please contact the church office at 916 331-2741 or email hbbcfamily@sbcglobal.net.

Secret Sisters, R.E.A.L. WOMEN

Shh Lips Images, Stock Photos & Vectors | ShutterstockSssshhhhh!  It’s a secret!  Ladies, are you participating in the R.E.A.L. Women’s Ministry Secret Sisters?  If you are, you should have already received information on your Secret Sister.  It is very important right now, during this time of isolation, to let your sister know that they are not alone and that you are praying for them.  You can mail them a card – use the church address as the return address if you don’t want to give away your identity.  If you have a gift for your secret sister, the church office can “forward” it to her.  Just call to make sure someone is in the office before you come by to drop it off.  Call Sheila Ashburn at 916-205-2370, if you have questions about the R.E.A.L. Women’s Ministry.

The R.E.A.L. Women’s Ministry supports the women of Hillsdale Blvd. Baptist Church with fellowship, caring, and acceptance.  R.E.A.L. stands for “Relationships, Encouragement, Accountability, and Laughter”.

God is continually reaching and touching lives through our social media using our website, Facebook, Zoom and YouTube venues.

Continue to pray for our guests who continue to join us online. I estimate we are receiving between 20-80 views in total per week. Pray our God will increase our fellowship and guide each of us on our spiritual journey as we connect our hearts to God, Grow to become more like Christ, be equipped to serve, to share the knowledge of Christ to our world, and exalt Him through our daily lives.

Just think about it. We’ve been given new-life in Christ. When Jesus died and rose from the dead we were given the blessing of the Holy Spirit. Every moment He is living, moving and working in you and through you—to make each day—a brand-new everything about you. And that is exactly what He does as you make Him a priority in your life. Each day is a brand-new day and every moment He will renew your heart and mind as you focus your heart on Him.

Focusing our heart and mind on CHRIST is a POWERFUL THING especially when we allow Him to filter everything about us and around us through Him. He will center our THOUGHTS and BELIEFS in the truth of who HE IS and HIS WORD. Then as we perceive things through this prism of FAITH and BELIEF, the Holy Spirit will help us to respond rather than react to these ever changing and challenging moments in our life.

"I will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you and all who's thoughts are fixed on you." Isaiah 26:3

As the New Testament was being written, the church in Jerusalem was facing a desperate situation.  Because of persecution and the Roman economy, believers there were impoverished.  The churches in Macedonia—Thessolonica, Philippi, and Berea—heard about this news.  Now what is particularly interesting is that these three churches were themselves going through a very difficult time financially.  They had very little themselves.  And yet, they begged the apostle Paul with much urging for the opportunity to give to these believers in need (2 Corinthians 8:1-5).  It was a tremendous expression of love—not out of their abundance, but out of what little they had ...Read More

What Makes a Great Team (Part 1) by Rick Warren
Every church needs a strong volunteer team. You can’t afford to hire enough staff to do all God wants you to do in your
community. More importantly, one of the purposes of your church “is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church” (Ephesians 4:12 NLT). Part of equipping your volunteers to serve the church is developing them into an effective team...
