A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PASTOR

Hello, Hillsdale Family! I pray that you are doing well and staying healthy.  I love you all and miss all of you so much!  Recently, I read an article from a fellow pastor that described exactly how I've been feeling lately: worn down.  I'm just feeling worn down by everything.  I know many of you are feeling the same.  We've been worn down by all of the changes we've had to undergo these past four months--having to work from home (or losing a job), having kids out of school (and bored for things to do), having to stay cooped up in our homes, having our daily routines drastically altered, and having to risk our health every time we have to go to the store (even wearing masks and practicing physical distancing).

We were all hoping that this pandemic might last a few weeks or even a few months, at most. But, instead, over these past couple of weeks, we have seen a sharp and worrisome spike in COVID-19 infections in Sacramento County and throughout California.  Now, after all this time, we are tired of being patient.  In fact, that impatience is what has contributed greatly to this new batch of infections.

If we want to get back to some sense of normality, we need to be patient.  We should avoid trying to rush things along and instead, we must continue to be patient and cautious.  As much as I want us to start meeting in-person again, I am more concerned for your health and safety. We must be careful not to endanger people's health by rushing into reopening.

Last Sunday, 67 of you joined us either on Zoom or via YouTube Live as we shared the ordinance of the Lord's Supper "long distance."  I hope you were blessed by that service.  This Sunday, we will be looking at the idea of how to worship God more biblically and effectively.  I hope you will plan to join us online (see information below.)

I will be on a two-week vacation beginning, Monday, July 13th.  John Walker will be preaching online both Sundays of my absence.  I know you will be blessed with the messages that God will give John to share with us while I'm away.  I will be back in the pulpit on Sunday, August 2, with the first message of a new series through Paul's Letter to the Romans.

God bless you all.

Pastor Jim

2) you may make a drop-off visit during our regular business hours.

3) you may give through your personal banking account with a bill pay service.

4) for those who need further assistance we may make a personal visit to pick up your financial gift.

Volunteers Needed to Re-open for Worship

When we re-open for worship, we will need a team of volunteers to perform the monitoring process as members enter the building.  This team will take temperatures, distribute masks for folks who don’t have one, keep track of who is attending, ensure social distancing and assist with the hand sanitizers.  These volunteers will need to attend a training meeting a week before opening day and arrive early.  PLEASE let the office know if you can volunteer.

Re-opening for Worship– Will You Come? As Pastor Jim has mentioned, we are hoping to start worshipping together again on July 12th.  As part of our planning, we would like to know how many members hope to attend our first service back. Please contact the church office at 916 331-2741 or email hbbcfamily@sbcglobal.net.

Building Repairs Continue!

We have a sheet rock and textured walls!  Progress looks good!  Thanks to George Hartis who is keeping track of everything for us.

The office has been painted and the ceiling tiles replaced.  We have been measured for new blinds for the window and the door.  Looking good!  Thanks to George Hartis who is keeping track of everything for us.

Secret Sisters, R.E.A.L. WOMEN

Shh Lips Images, Stock Photos & Vectors | ShutterstockSssshhhhh!  It’s a secret!  Ladies, are you participating in the R.E.A.L. Women’s Ministry Secret Sisters?  If you are, you should have already received information on your Secret Sister.  It is very important right now, during this time of isolation, to let your sister know that they are not alone and that you are praying for them.  You can mail them a card – use the church address as the return address if you don’t want to give away your identity.  If you have a gift for your secret sister, the church office can “forward” it to her.  Just call to make sure someone is in the office before you come by to drop it off.  Call Sheila Ashburn at 916-205-2370, if you have questions about the R.E.A.L. Women’s Ministry.

The R.E.A.L. Women’s Ministry supports the women of Hillsdale Blvd. Baptist Church with fellowship, caring, and acceptance.  R.E.A.L. stands for “Relationships, Encouragement, Accountability, and Laughter”.
